María del Socorro Coco Gutierrez Magallanes is a MexChicana international social science and humanities researcher and scholar whose work bridges multiple disciplines, with a focus on race, gender, class and ethnicity, social movements, visual culture, critical pedagogies, literature, identity and politics among Latin American, Chicanx, Latinx, Black and Indigenous peoples. She is regarded for her innovations in collaborative approaches, which characterize not only her research and teaching, but her activism as well. Coco is the recipient of a California James Irvine Foundation Scholarship,  UNAM`s Graduate Scholarship, Mexico´s CONACYT´s Fellowship and Mexico´s SEP Fellowship for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs respectively. She has been a graduate visiting scholar and researcher at UC Santa Cruz, UC Berkeley, University of Buenos Aires, and a Postdoctoral Fellow at University of Puebla, BUAP where she worked on bridging  visual, literary and memory studies within the co-organization of the Latin American and Chicanx forum  IMAGE, MEMORY and ARCHIVE. She earned a B.A. in Sociology and Spanish Literary and Cultural Studies from Occidental College as an Irvine Scholar,  a Masters in Latin American Studies and a  Ph.D. in Sociology from UNAM. Coco  is  working on a long term research project with Las Maestras Center on Chicanx and Indigenous Thought and Art Practice, the California Ethnic and Multicultural Archives ( CEMA) and the Feminist Archive at the Davison Library  and teaches in the Feminist Studies Department at UCSB.   She is very much interested in continuing the work of  of Women of Color Feminisms and the articulation of Transnational Feminist Networks.   She is the mother of two school age children: Audre Irekani and Karina Itzuri. email: cocogtzmagallanes@ucsb.edu
