Bio

Carissa (she/her) is a graduate student in the Feminist Studies Department at University
of California, Santa Barbara. While obtaining her MA in Women’s, Gender, and
Sexuality Studies at the University of Cincinnati, she served as the President of the
WGSS Graduate Student Organization and the Graduate Student Representative for
the WGSS Graduate Committee for the department.

Research

Carissa’s MA project focused on how sex workers’ rights activists organize around
uncompensated emotional labor and examining their organizing efforts through a
Marxist Feminist lens.
Her research interests include: sex workers’ rights, labor rights, social movements, and
Marxist Feminism.
